The administrative district, ORP Hradec Králové, is situated in the south of Hradec Králové Region, and with its area and a number of inhabitants both is the largest administrative district.
Population and Manpower
In the territory of the ORP Hradec Králové 145,130 inhabitants (most in the Region) lived towards January 1, 2009, from whom 108,780 (74.9 %) resided in towns/city (Hradec Králové: 94,497 - 65.1 %; Chlumec nad Cidlinou: 5,378; Třebechovice pod Orebem: 5,833; Smiřice: 3,072; and Nechanice 2,294).

The citizens of the ORP, Hradec Králové are the most educated ones in the Region. Counted per a number of the inhabitants over 15, the part of graduates of university is the fifth highest and the ratio of secondary school leavers with a school leaving exam is the fourth highest, to the contrary, the part of citizens with basic education or trained in branch without school leaving exams is below average.

In the ORP Hradec Králové 37,121 economical subjects were registered towards December 31, 2008, from whom entrepreneurial ones without employees predominate: 13,012; only 96 were with 100 or more employees, and 5 were with more than 1,000 employees. According to the legal form, among economical subjects natural persons predominate (28,753); 8,368 legal entities were registered.
